I have traveled with my children since they were infants, taking them on everything from camping and adventure tours, to cruises and luxury resort getaways. When I started my business, I immediately realized there was a need for travel advisors who really understood families. This meant knowing what services and amenities parents needed to feel safe and comfortable, and ensure everyone in the family would be happy and have fun.
Family travel is one of the fastest-growing markets, and I have been thrilled to see the travel industry meet this demand by designing products designed specifically for families. While theme parks and beach resorts will always be popular, families are becoming more sophisticated travelers. They want educational experiences, cultural interactions, great food, outdoor adventures, and yes, they still want to have fun.
Today, families with children of all ages are watching polar bears in the Arctic, snorkeling with turtles in the Galapagos, touring the Louvre and Vatican, trekking to Machu Picchu, hiking on glaciers in Iceland, and going on safari in Africa. Multi-generational travel is booming as well, and again suppliers are offering accommodations and tours that cater to all ages and ability levels. I’ve made it my job to stay on top of the latest family travel news, and to tell my suppliers what families want and need.
